What we have been doing
Lately, we’ve been focused on prepping the garden before it gets too hot—and before we take off on a very fun trip! I’ve been doing a lot of driving, with a couple of quick trips to Truckee to check on my project there, a visit to the Bay Area for Easter with family, and a day in Carmel to assist on a furniture install. We managed to squeeze in some fun, too—celebrated Shane’s birthday at the ranch and did a little wine tasting at our favorite spot, Casino Mine Ranch (always a favorite).

What we have been loving
For the home- Lately, I’ve been really drawn to sheer window treatments. Every time I’m pulling fabric samples, I find myself reaching for the sheers—even though I rarely get the chance to use them. There’s something so spring-coded about them, and I love how they add a soft, feminine element, especially when contrasted with more rustic materials and finishes. I’ve been working on a lot of bathrooms lately, and leaning into that, loving the use of stone slab in the details—shower door jambs, niches, windowsills. It’s such a beautiful way to add character and a little extra intention to those functional spaces.
In the kitchen- With how busy things have been, I’ve been all about quick and easy meals—lots of Instant Pot dinners and making the most of what’s growing in the garden (which is mostly just herbs and kale right now, lol). I’ve been loving making my own extra-herby ranch dressing—so good on everything. For Shane’s birthday, I baked a batch of brown butter chocolate chip cookies and was told it was some of my best work yet. Broma Bakery recipes never miss.
In the garden- We’ve been working on finishing up two more garden beds for the season, and Shane’s been deep in irrigation mode—getting everything set up so we don’t have to spend as much time watering this year. I’ve been on the hunt for thrifted pots—love how easy they are to move around to fill different areas, plus they bring in new materials and a nice variation in height. For those of you following my large crop journey here’s the update: the squirrels have been snacking on all the sunflower sprouts, ugh. We covered them with mesh, but that didn’t do the trick, so now we’ve resorted to clear plastic cups in a makeshift greenhouse setup.
