What we have been doing
Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s holidays were filled with good company and a little rest. We took some time away to recharge and spend meaningful time with friends and family, and it’s been such a grounding way to close out the year. We’re looking ahead to 2026 with excitement and energy, ready to jump back into the projects that have been waiting for this next chapter.
What we have been loving
For the home- This time of year always makes me crave a reset and a good clean slate. My style is usually pretty clean and balanced with a little charm mixed in, but after the holidays I definitely find myself wanting to strip things back—less layering, less clutter, and more breathing room. Lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun mixing colors and playing with paint. White will always have its place, but I’ve been feeling more inclined to lean into wall color as an easy way to give a space a totally new feel without adding more stuff. A fresh paint color can make a room feel special, a little unexpected, and still really livable—which feels like exactly the right energy to start the year.
In the kitchen- Like everyone else, I’m craving a little routine after the holidays. We’re doing a dry January, which I honestly love—but it’s still fun to get creative with mocktails. I have my eye on this Bee’s Knees Mocktail Spritz that feels festive enough to still feel special. I’m also setting a goal this year: actually eating lunch. I’m in pursuit of the best dense bean salad and want to find a true go-to that I can prep once and keep in the fridge. I’m starting with one from Violet Witchel.
In the garden- We are pretty much done cleaning up the garden and amending the beds so everything can hibernate until we’re ready to jump into spring. There’s something really satisfying about putting the garden to bed for the season, knowing it’s set up and ready for what’s next. I’ve also been doing a lot of planning for next year’s garden. I’m especially excited about growing tulips for the first time this year. I also got a soil blocker for Christmas and am really excited to try out a new less chaotic seed-starting setup this season.
