What we have been doing
Ok, finally—all 49 days of January are over. While reflecting on my photos from the month, I couldn't believe everything that has happened this year so far.
This month often gets a bad rap, and to be fair, this one in particular didn’t redeem itself. But looking on the bright side, I do love the challenge and fresh start it offers—a chance to tackle long-awaited projects and set the tone for the year ahead.
It’s been an eventful and productive month: tackling garden projects while enjoying the fake spring we’ve been having, a Bay Area weekend packed with meetings and friend time, a photo shoot in Tahoe, a design presentation in Truckee, and becoming besties with our FedEx driver thanks to the endless samples arriving for various projects.

What we have been loving
In our planning mode for the year and have been scheming up a lot of projects, personally and professionally!
For the home- I'm currently loving the warmth and texture that interior wood paneling brings to a space—it definitely had a bad reputation for a while, but when done right, it can be so cozy and make a space feel so warm. I’m also waiting for the perfect project to incorporate a pop of Calacatta Viola marble and a large-scale mural-style wallpaper.
In the kitchen- I honestly have been feeling so uninspired in the kitchen. Which is perfect timing because we just got a new grill and Shane is very excited about perfecting his process. So I have been keeping it very simple, my go to sides right now are an Italian Chopped Salad and this Sour Cream and Chive Mashed Potatoes.
We have been doing a lot of digging lately, leveling the garden and preparing new planting areas. I'm especially excited about installing a vintage cement sink—an incredibly thoughtful engagement gift from our friends. I've also just ordered seeds to start our tomatoes and peppers!
