What we have been doing
I kicked off the month in Carmel to assist with a photo shoot, then back home, wrapped up a long-anticipated project install in El Dorado Hills that I’ve been assisting on — two years in the making, and so exciting to see it all come together. We’ve also been finalizing cabinetry details for Shane’s parents’ kitchen and putting the finishing touches on the Truckee project (can’t wait to share the final product!). Oh, and I’ve been working on a downloadable renovation guide that I’m excited to release soon.
The rest of the month was a mix — a mellow weekend full of friend time and future house mood boards, a Father’s Day trip to the fair, and a girls weekend in Tahoe that brought some wild weather. I also squeezed in some time at home, which always feels like a rarity this time of year.

What we have been loving
For the home- This month’s mood board is feeling like a mix of warm and homey, yet still summery — rich wood tones, aged hardware, and some fun contrasting moments like deep reds and soft sky blues. I’ve also been on a bit of a colored tub kick — this green one just has so much charm. It all feels very summer at home to me: open windows, a little bit of imperfection, and materials that only get better with time and use.
In the kitchen- I’ve been so coffee obsessed lately — like, it’s 5 p.m. right now, and I’m already excited for tomorrow morning’s cup. I think it’s the iced coffee season and the salted honey syrup I made that’s doing the trick. I’m also itching to dive into all my favorite summer recipes, but our garden isn’t quite producing enough to satisfy the cravings yet. I’ve been stockpiling recipes in the meantime. My TikTok algorithm is only feeding into it. I’m currently loving everything Julius Roberts is posting (courgette king!), and I’m especially excited to try his courgette pasta. I’ve also bookmarked a raspberry cream pie — a copycat of the famous one from Briermere Farms.
In the garden-We added some new trellising to the tomato and vining plant bed (cucumbers, squash, melons) this month, which makes things feel a little more intentional and gives everything room to grow. Our tomatoes were looking rough just a few weeks ago, but after a lot of Googling, I added another layer of compost and realized we had been overwatering. Since then, we’ve cut back to watering just once a week, and the tomatoes are finally looking better — we even got our first couple of cherry tomatoes! The flower beds are thriving too, with our first cosmos and dahlia blooms appearing. Building on my meadow landscape research and inspiration from the last couple of months, I’ve been diving deep into California native plants and getting more intentional about including them in our landscape plans.
