What we have been doing
I can hardly believe it’s already April—hence the slightly delayed blog post. This month, we broke ground on a fun, highly functional project, adding two new bedrooms and giving a much-needed remodel to an existing bathroom. We’ve also been deep in exterior elevations for what’s shaping up to be a beautiful home in Plymouth. We wrapped up and photographed a project in San Francisco, and are excited to share a few more projects we’ve been working on soon.
What we have been loving
For the home-
Spring has officially sprung, and I keep coming back to lighter, low-contrast palettes. Everything feels a little softer right now— easy to live with, but still interesting and layered. We’ve been pulling in a lot of soft finishes and more unique stone selections—nothing too loud, but pieces that have just enough movement or variation to make a space feel custom. Given where we’re at on a couple of projects, I’m also a little hyper-fixated on window details—kickplates, stone headers, sills, all of it. Styling this time of year is fun. Everything is in bloom, so it’s easy to bring in something fresh that makes a space feel alive without trying too hard.
In the garden-
Today marks the average last frost date in my planting zone, which means we’ll be planting our summer garden sometime in the next week or so. It feels especially exciting now that the seedlings have officially made their way out of the basement and into the living room. Expanding on my current window fixation, I’ve also been especially drawn to window box planters lately—they add such an easy layer of charm and make everything feel a little more considered from the outside. We also have a handful of larger planters that have sat empty while we’ve focused on other areas, but I’m excited to finally get to those this year. I’ve been collecting inspiration and thinking through combinations I want to try.
