What we have been doing
A quick roundup of the moments that shaped our month. October felt especially full — between back-to-back weddings, stacks of furniture orders, and the final details of several projects coming together (always the most challenging part!). We also started planning ahead for next year, which somehow feels both exciting and impossible to believe it’s already that time again.
What we have been loving
For the home- This month we installed wallpaper on two projects and specified it for another. I was reminded just how transformative — and worth the investment — wall treatments can be. There’s something so immersive about wallpaper that nothing else quite replicates. Lately, I’ve also been drawn to folk-style rugs and art; they strike that perfect balance of chic yet lived-in and casual.
In the kitchen- With the days growing shorter and colder, I’ve been leaning into cozier recipes and new flavors. We’re still harvesting tomatoes and zucchini, a nice bridge between seasons. Having a garden makes you slow down and appreciate the in-between — all the little microseasons and quiet transitions you might otherwise skip over.
In the garden- We’ve been doing a lot of fall landscaping since the weather has been perfect for new plants to take root. I’ve been really into using artichokes in the landscape lately — they’re such a beautiful and affordable way to fill space, and they take full advantage of California’s Mediterranean climate. Hopefully next year we’ll get to enjoy an abundance of them. It’s also almost time to start turning over the beds for winter — labeling dahlia tubers, collecting seeds, and planting fava beans for nitrogen.
